Davis Athletic Complex
The Davis Athletic Complex is the result of Phase II of Albion's campaign to improve its outdoor athletic facilities.
The complex includes Alumni Field, the competition facility for the men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s lacrosse programs, Champions Stadium at Frank Joranko Field for baseball, Dempsey Field for softball and a grass area suitable for throwing events in track & field. All of the facilities are brought together by a main entrance and walkway.
The women’s soccer team had the honor of playing the first game on the Pro Grass surface for soccer and lacrosse on Sept. 4, 2016. The men's soccer team defeated Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Trine University, 6-0, in its first contest at the facility on Sept. 13. In addition to the playing surface, the facility includes seating for approximately 250 spectators, a media center and lighting allowing for night contests.
The baseball team played its first games at Champions Stadium at Frank Joranko Field on March 19, 2017, as the Britons split a doubleheader with non-league rival Defiance College. Defiance also provided the opposition for the first softball games played at the new Dempsey Field on March 29.
Boosted by a generous gift by Bud and Olivia Davis, construction started May 9, 2016 and was complete in time for the soccer teams to train when they returned to campus in August. Berkley, Mich., based Foresite Design is the general contractor and designer of the project. The project was dedicated Sept. 18.
